FAQs

What is your jewellery made from?

All Lucy and Jane jewellery is made from ethically sourced sterling silver. It is always nickel-free and lead-free, making the earrings ideal for children or anyone with sensitive skin.

What are the best earrings for children?

Lucy and Jane earrings are brilliant for children! They're made from hypoallergenic sterling silver, so really gentle on young ears. I get lots of lovely feedback from parents, carers and grandparents that these are some of the only earrings they've found that don't irritate their kids ears.

There's lots of different fun and colourful designs to choose from - see the full collection of kids earrings here.

I recommend the earrings for children from the age of 6 as there's lots of small parts.

If the earrings do cause a reaction I offer a full refund.

What earring backs do you use?

All studs come with sterling silver posts and butterfly backs. They’re very easy to put in and remove. I also sell spare earring backs if you ended up losing some.

Is your jewellery safe for children?

Yes. All earrings are made from sterling silver and designed to be gentle on sensitive skin. Reactions are very rare, but if one does occur I offer a full refund. Always wait at least 6 weeks after piercing before changing earrings.

Can children sleep in your earrings?

I recommend removing earrings with enamel or stones before sleeping, as movement can loosen details over time.

What is sterling silver?

Sterling silver is sometimes called solid silver or 925 silver. It is made from 92.5% pure silver mixed with copper to make it strong enough for everyday wear. It’s hypoallergenic and much kinder to skin than plated jewellery.

Is your jewellery hallmarked?

Sometimes. Many pieces are small and under 7.5g, which means they don’t legally require a hallmark in the UK.

Can sterling silver tarnish?

Yes—but this is completely natural and easy to clean. Tarnish is only surface-level and can be gently polished away. Wearing your jewellery regularly actually helps prevent tarnish.

Does your jewellery mind getting wet?

Water is fine for everyday things like handwashing or showering. However, avoid perfume, chlorine, and salt water as these can speed up tarnishing.

How can I prevent tarnishing?

Wear your jewellery often! When not wearing it, store it in an airtight container and keep it dry. All jewellery comes wrapped in acid-free tissue paper to help protect it.

Is your jewellery ethical?

Yes. Most jewellery is made using recycled sterling silver, suppliers follow ethical standards, packaging is recycled, and I even deliver local orders by bike where possible!

What length are your necklaces?

Most necklaces come with an 18" chain. If you’d prefer 16" or 20", just leave a note—there’s no extra cost.

Where do you deliver?

I currently deliver within the UK. Unfortunately, I can’t deliver to Ireland (including Northern Ireland) due to regulations.

How fast is delivery?

Orders are usually sent the next working day. Order before midday and I can often post the same day. Sent via Royal Mail Tracked 48 or upgrade to Tracked 24.

Can I track my parcel?

Yes—you’ll receive a tracking number by email (check spam just in case).

My order hasn’t arrived—what should I do?

You’ll receive tracking details to follow your parcel. If it hasn’t arrived within a week, please get in touch and I’ll help.
